Refining Your Results

If your search returns a long list of results, you may want to refine your search to decrease the number of results. The Search Results page offers several different refinement methods.

On the left side of the page: Refine by Category, Refine by Location and Include Businesses ServingLocated in Area. On the right side of the page: Search for Business Named "...", Refine by Products and Services.

Depending on your needs, you may want to use one or more of these methods to refine your search to get a more reasonable number of results.

Refine by Category

If the search term you entered in the "What are you looking for?" box is very broad or somewhat ambiguous, you may get a large number of search results and they may include businesses in several different categories (for example: a search for restaurants returns search results in these categories: Hotels & restaurants - eqpt & supplies, Restaurants and more.)

The five most relevant categories that are included in your search results are displayed as links on the left side of the page, under the label "Refine by Category." Next to each category link is a number showing how many search results there are in that category. If there are more than five categories related to your search term, a drop-down menu appears (pre-filled with the words "More Categories") so that you can see a complete list of the categories that are included in your search results. To view the search results for just one specific category, click the name of the category.

Refine by Location

The Refine by Location function allows you to narrow your results by selecting a smaller geographic area within your original search area.

For example, if your original search is in Constanta County, the Refine by Location function allows you to select from a list of cities within Constanta County that have results related to your search. The five cities with the largest number of search results are displayed, and other cities with results are selectable using the "More Locations" drop-down menu.

If there are no results in a particular area related to the term you enter in the "What are you looking for?" box, then it will not appear as a choice on the list or in the drop-down menu.

Refine by Products and Services

The Refine by Products and Services function allows you to narrow your results by selecting the product or service from a list that has results related to your search. The five products or services with the largest number of search results are displayed, and other products and services with results are selectable using the "More Products and Services" drop-down menu.

Include Businesses Serving/Located in Area

By default, your initial search results include businesses that serve the area you specified (for example: Tulcea County), even if they are not physically located in that area.

If you wish to refine your search so that your results include only those businesses physically located in a particular area, use the toggle buttons found under the label "Include Businesses..." on the left side of the page.

If you enter Tulcea County in the "Where?" box for your initial search, the upper toggle button says "Serving this area" and you select this button to see businesses serving Tulcea County; the lower button says "Located in this area" and you select this button to see only those businesses located in Tulcea County.

Search for Business Named "..."

If you want to limit your search results to only those businesses that include your exact search term in their name, use the "Search by business named..." link.

For example: if you enter the word "pub" in the "What are you looking for?" box you get a large number of results, some of which are not actually pubs, but are simply related to pubs; but if you click the "Search by business named pub" link, the results are narrowed to just those that have the word "pub" in the name of the business.
